Preface about the port ......

Text Box:      Abu Floos port is a commercial port for general cargo it was buit in the wake of a crisis which was the result of goods accumilation and vessels congestion during 1974 building of the  port started on the 16 of january 1975 and was completed on the 16 of january  1976 Text Box:      The port  lies on the western side of shat al-Arab river, about 20km to the south of basrah center. it contains three steel jetties of 175m long and 18m width or with total a front side of 525m three are nine electrical wharf   cranes, three cranes for each wharf of a5 ton capacity there are also yards of 200m length built on it stores of 75m length and 33m width. the port is provided with lighting towers. at present time the port receives ships and launches with its own provisions in spite of its exposition to damages and destruction.
